Hōri Kīngi Te Ānaua was a Ngāti Ruaka Rangatira.  He was a Treaty of Waitangi signatory and an ally to the British government; later becoming a magistrate and land assessor.  He was suggested as a candidate for the Māori King, but declined the offer.
